CO-FOUNDER OF LIFELINES PRESS SECURES
A TWO-BOOK CONTRACT WITH HODDER

In May this year Alan Wilkinson, co-founder of LifeLines Press, ghosted the memoirs of North Yorkshire country copper Mike Pannett.   Now Then Lad (Constable & Robinson) has gone to three re-prints after being serialised in the Daily Mail.  On the back of this remarkable success Hodder have now commissioned Alan to write two more books in the series. The first, You’re Coming With Me Lad, is due out in hardback in July 2009, with another to follow a year later.

Reviewers are calling this ‘a worthy successor to James Herriot’ and ‘a Heartbeat for the 21st century.’

Alan is currently working with Barbara Want, widow of distinguished Radio 4 journalist Nick Clarke, on an account of their life together, tragically brought to an end last year when he succumbed to a rare and aggressive form of cancer.

Alan is the leading ghost-writer and mentor for LifeLines Press.  In 2006 his ghosted autobiography of Warwickshire cricketer Wasim Kahn, Brim Full of Passion, was Wisden’s Cricket Book of the Year.

LIFELINES PRESS SPONSORS AN EVENING WITH JOHN JULIUS NORWICH

Monday 13th October, at St. George’s Bloomsbury.

LifeLines Press is proud to sponsor an evening with John Julius Norwich, diplomat and man of letters, who will be reading from his newly published memoir, Trying to Please

John Julius is well known for his skills as a raconteur (and vaudeville pianist!).  He will  reveal how he made Churchill scowl, how Merle Oberon arranged his first marriage, and the strange story of commandeering General de Gaulle’s apple pie.  ‘He conjures up a world’, writes Jason Goodwin of the Spectator, “which seems… safer, wittier and richer than our own.”

The event – held in this beautifully restored 18th century church - is being organised by the World Monuments Fund, of which Lord Norwich is Chairman Emeritus.  For further information, and to book tickets, visit www.wmf.org.uk/activities
